Why is the American election so much more amusing than ours? :( I read an article in the Calgary Herald the other day about the fashion of Canadian party leaders. Seriously. (Gilles Duceppe, in suspenders? THUMBS DOWN. Jack Layton, in a well-tailored suit and lacking a tie? THUMBS UP I KNOW WHO I AM VOTING FOR)

Also, I have been eating crazy healthy like whoah. I haven't even gone to the gelato shop that is literally across the street. Thedailyplate.com is super awesome. I've discovered the greatness of leeks and lemongrass and bamboo steamers. Cannot live without the steamer now. EVERYTHING IS AWESOME. YAY YAY YAY YAY.

I am on an anime downloading spree for the first time in years. I think Slayers Revolution triggered it.

I don't like living by myself. :| At least it's only until the 9th.

I'm gonna go eat some oatmeal and an apple now.

I need to get new glasses, or something. Random people keep thinking I'm older than I actually am, and that is lame!

Dang I am such a nerd. NERD RAGE AHEAD.

The colours on my two computer displays are different and it is DRIVING ME INSANE. INSANE, I TELL YOU. I toss some Age of Conan screenshot files over to my Mac, and they just look SO MUCH NICER on there and I can't get my PC to show such nice colours ARGH. I'm using the same colour profile on each, but it doesn't really seem to make a difference. In fact, switching profiles on the PC doesn't seem to make a difference at ALL - I think it must be disabled, somehow, perhaps? I wish I knew more about colour syncing in Windows! I'll google it once I get home tonight and am less grumpy. God is currently punishing me for not being pregnant, you see.

In any case, the plans for the move are going ahead smoothly! This is going to be my "Moving Sucks, Get A Cute Teaset" present to myself. The teapot is good, but seriously, look at those cups. Those cups? Amazing, that is what they are.

I am so glad that we're going to be on the ground floor, with only parking garage beneath. Why, you ask? Because we can totally play DDR without being absolutely paranoid that we're making the people below us miserable.

I need to buy shelves. Sean has a massive DVD collection, and together, our games collection is also massive. I NEED to arrange all that, alphabetically, and by system. I'll tear my hair out otherwise.

Oh, jeez, it's going to be so nice. I've been moving every year since the end of high school, and I'm sick of it.

So, as we're sitting in the car, stationary in the parking lot, admiring our shiny new things from the comic store, there is a thump and the car shudders. Hooray, we have been backed into!

The entire left corner of the bumper is caved in - thankfully there was no damage to the lights. Also thankfully, the guy who bumped into us was very apologetic and cooperative (his young son was there, giggling about the BAD THING his dad had done) so there shouldn't be any trouble fixing it through insurance. And their SUV didn't even have a scratch on the bumper!

But still, blar. Hassle. Blar.

(Also, what did I get from the comic store? Well, a WoW TCG card called "Bling", for one. Haha.)

I think, after this, my poor car deserves some fuzzy dice HOLY HAND GRENADES.

So, the car "fun" continues. The car went back to the mechanics, they found nothing wrong with it, cleaned it, gave it a new battery, apologized, and gave it back.

Broke down again a week later. Same way.

It goes back to the mechanics. The manager drives it around for 4 days. It doesn't break down. They call other dealerships. Apparently this is a problem some Intrepids have, from the sounds of it, although they can't get it to stall for them to verify. They replace something, I think (Crankshaft?) assuming this is the problem. Got it back today.

AC's broke. Luckily, the AC still works, it just full blast or nothing.

i hate cars.


In other news, my parents are coming to visit soon! Yay! Perhaps we'll visit my aunt and uncle as well. They moved out to Victoria last month. I haven't been on the island before!

So.

Apparently the $650 the good folks in Richmond charged me for car repairs went to things that have absolutely nothing to do with the reason the car was brought in in the first place. You know how I know? Because it DIED ON THE HIGHwAY AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON. IN EXACTLY THE SAME wAY AS BEFORE.

Sean's stepdad is going to yell at the mechanics for us. Yay!

My toe is purple, because I stubbed it this morning and I guess it exploded.

So, a week ago I had my car inspected. It did not meet the high standards of British Columbia, so I had to spend $800 to replace the tie rods in order to even register the stupid car. Once that was done, they gave my car a clean bill of health and a nice shiny "Approved" sticker on the windshield. Two days later, I registered and insured it.

Another two days later, today, IT DIES ON THE FREAKING HIGHwAY.

ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH

This is why I hate cars. That and the whole crashing thing. It's currently sitting at a shop in Richmond. I'm hoping very, very much that the inspectors screwed something up, didn't put a cap back on or something, and that's the reason why it broke. I really don't want to shell out MORE money on the stupid thing.

I spent over an hour in the final dungeon of Final Fantasy 3 today, only to die on what I think was one of the final bosses. Argh.

On the bright side, Bioshock. Soon.

Adult alumni camp starts tomorrow. I'll be going from a nice posh hotel to Spacecamp's Hab 1 dorms. Which are uhm... cold... and bunks... and stuff.

Camp will be interesting. Like I said before though, I am going to be completely out of my element, kind of like a video game geek at a comic book convention. The gamer may like some comic books, and know about the characters, and feel kinship with the comic book geeks, buuuut it's just a different mode of geekery. oO; BUT FREE ! YAY!

OK. I can understand that air conditioning is a necessity here in Alabama, but... why is it so cold in every building? I have to wear a sweater inside and it's way too hot for a sweater outside :(

They're letting me go to the adult Spacecamp weekend for free :D! I'm so going to be out of my nerd element.

All packed up for my Alabama trip. Will be flying out in the morning, 7am sharp. I think I have everything I need, except sunscreen, which I'll have to buy there - or burn and thus tan. Heh.

Hopefully Huntsville in June will be a little cooler weather-wise than Huntsville in August. :(
